On Thursday, the Gurugram Police apprehended a 24-year-old individual in connection with an extortion attempt made to Big Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav. Elvish reported the case on Wednesday after receiving WhatsApp messages demanding approximately ₹40 lakh initially, followed by a demand for ₹1 crore. The police, while investigating the incident, disclosed the potential motive behind the extortion. ALSO READ: WHAT! The video, shared by the news agency ANI, captured events following the arrest in Gujarat. Addressing the situation, ACP Crime Branch, Varun Dahiya, stated, "In collaboration with the Gujarat Police, Gurugram Police has apprehended Shakir Makrani, a Vadnagar resident. He was swayed by Yadav and devised this extortion scheme as a means to acquire money." Hailing from Gurugram, Elvish Yadav has achieved widespread fame since his YouTube debut. He manages two YouTube channels, amassing approximately 14.5 and 4.75 million subscribers, respectively. Notably, he secured victory in the second season of Bigg Boss OTT, competing in the finale against Abhishek Malhan. Elvish Yadav made history as the first wild card contestant to win the show, earning the winner's trophy and a prize of ₹25 lakh.


Earlier, Elvish Yadav expressed his desire to part with the Bigg Boss winner's trophy amid claims of negative publicity. Following fan speculations that he implied Abhishek Malhan paid individuals to troll him, Elvish candidly stated in a vlog, "I don't want anything; my life has taken a different turn, my friend! All I yearn for is the peace and love-filled life I enjoyed before my stint on Bigg Boss."
